With Labor Day around the corner and everyone making their getaway plans, we have decided to do a special Labor Day edition of the BR | LGC Summer Playlist! Some more members of our awesome team have filled us in on what they will be dancing in their seats to during the long weekend.

We had to have our resident music expert Cliff, Co-President of BR | LGC weigh in. He has been rocking out to Alabama Shakes lately, one of his absolute favorites. This fairly new American rock band pulls sounds from classic Southern blues with a lead singer whose voice is extremely powerful and unique. We completely understand why Cliff is obsessed!

Bruce Springsteen’s “Rocky Ground” is another track taken from Cliff’s iPod. The amazing sound and great message are what Cliff says draws him to the song. Plus, Bruce Springsteen in general is a great listen.

Currently, Kristin is really loving The Lumineers. This trio of alternative folk rock performers are new to the music industry, but are already making great strides, reaching number 14 on the Billboard 200 list when they made their April 2012 debut. Of Monsters and Men are another band that Kristin is currently loving. Originally from Iceland, this band has crossed over to the USA and have gained much popularity. Their upbeat indie sound draws all in!

Johanna’s favorite playlist songs come from the City of Angel’s movie soundtrack – her favorite movie! Alanis Morissett’s “Uninvited”, Jude’s “I know” and Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel” are all on her playlist. Their slower rhythms help her relax even more during her vacation days.

Some of our team members love the classic albums. Henry enjoys Buffalo Springfield’s 1967 album “Buffalo Springfield Again”. There is no good reason why this album isn’t played on the radio now! Its classic sound has definitely been an influence on musicians today and even made Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

The go to songs year round for Joyce (especially in preparation for shows and markets) are from Italian pop musician Pino Daniele. She says all the songs are great and she has been listening to him for years. Take a listen during your Labor Day trip – you may become a new fan of Italian pop!

Santigold is one of Kendall‘s favorite musician’s at the moment. She loves the versatility in Santigold’s songs. Kendall says her sound is “very New York City”. She also enjoys the mixtape for, sadly, canceled HBO show, “How to Make It in America“. Though released about a year and a half ago, Kendall has been playing it nonstop since the release! With an awesome mix of artist from Little Dragon to Theophilus London to Kid Cudi, this collection of songs will satisfy anyone’s musical taste.

Wherever the long holiday weekend takes us, one thing is for sure – we will be playing the BR | LGC playlist the entire way there!
